The inaugural flight, which carried 132 passengers and crew, took off from Seattle on Friday, November 19. "The Belizean market has been on our radar for nearly two decades," Delta's Brett Catlin said. Delta Airlines is now the sole US carrier serving Belize from as far north as Seattle, and the seventh US carrier to fly into Belize's Philip S. W. Goldson International Airport. However, only Delta Airlines flies into Belize from Seattle. "As a result, we value our partnership with Delta Airlines in providing such critical connectivity for West Coast travelers," said Anthony Mahler, Minister of Tourism and Diaspora Relations. According to Mahler, the new Delta flights from Los Angeles and Seattle will bring in between $70 and $80 million.
